Changelog – fixed because you said so

I read every single review and report, and try to ship a fix as soon as possible. This list only covers things that change how the tool works – design tweaks and site content are left out.

New feature

For dive centres: a clearer example of your logo on a guest's video

The dive centre page now shows a guest's wreck dive in the Red Sea before and after correction, larger than before, with an example dive centre tag in the corner – so it is easy to see where your logo and name go on every video your guests correct.

2026-10-21
New feature

For dive centres: the tool on your own address, with your logo

Dive centres, liveaboards and resorts can now get the tool on an address of their own – app.yourdivecentre.com – with their logo and name in the corner tag of every video their guests correct. Nothing to install, nothing uploaded, ready in a day. The new page explains it in plain words and has a short enquiry form; the free tool stays exactly as it is.

Android: the file picker's “This device” view no longer comes up empty

Android's system picker reacts to the list of file types a page asks for, and with the long list meant for desktop dialogs some phones showed nothing under “This device”. Phones now ask for videos and photos only, and a “Browse all files” button opens the picker without any filter – so there is always a way in. If your phone still shows an empty picker, please tell me the model and browser.

New feature

Long reviews fold to a few lines with “Read full review”

Detailed reviews are welcome – they just made the review cards very tall. Long ones now show the first lines and a “Read full review” link that expands them in place.

2026-10-19
New feature

Works offline – for liveaboards

Open the app once with internet, and it keeps working without a connection: the browser keeps a copy of the app's files, and the correction itself never needed the internet. Chrome and Edge can also install it as an app (menu → Install app). Reviews and the usage counters still need a connection, and iPhone HEIC photos need the decoder to have been loaded once online. “Save page as” is not the way – a saved HTML file loses folder access and storage, which is what Torsten ran into.

2026-10-17
Fix · from Torsten

HEVC output is now smaller than the H.264 source

The quality levels used to mean “this share of the source bitrate”, whatever the output format – so an H.264 file encoded to HEVC at Maximum came out the same size. HEVC needs about 30 % fewer bits for the same detail, so an H.264 source encoded to HEVC now gets 70 % of the bitrate: same quality, about 30 % smaller. An HEVC source keeps its size, and the quality labels now say what they mean (“Maximum = same quality as the source”).

New feature

Dive order kept when the gallery hides file names, and a “corrected before” tag

Android's gallery picker hands the browser a bare number instead of the camera's file name (“1000078060”), which made the corrected files hard to tell apart and to sort. Those now get the recording time in the name as well (1000078060_2026-03-21_05-41_corrected.mp4), so sorting by name follows the dive – and since 14 October the recording date is also kept inside the file for Photos and Gallery. A file picked again later shows a “corrected on …” tag in the list. Tip: choosing files through “Files” / “Browse” instead of the gallery keeps the camera's own names.

2026-10-14
New feature

The corrected video keeps the recording date

Corrected videos used to be stamped with the time they were processed, so photo apps sorted them under today's date. The recording date from the original (the MP4's creation time, which Photos, Google Photos and Lightroom sort by) is now written into the corrected file. The file's own “date modified” is set by the browser and cannot be changed.

Fix · from MF, Giz, Ann

Watermark about half the size

The corner tag was too big for several of you. It is now 65 % of its former width – about half the area – and sits in the same corner. And a reminder: it is free to switch off – the setting is in step 3, just under the folder button (“Watermark: on · remove”).

Fix · from Allan

Sound from Sony cameras is kept

Sony's XAVC S files (RX100, A7, ZV, FX series) store the sound uncompressed, which the app couldn't carry over – the corrected video came out silent, and because the track wasn't recognised as sound at all, not even the notice about it appeared. The sound is now read straight from the file and encoded to AAC while the video is processed, in sync and at full length. The same goes for other uncompressed formats (QuickTime 16/24/32-bit and float).

2026-10-13
New feature

Auto denoise also for footage the correction has to push hard

When a camera has clipped the red channel to zero (common in blue water) or the footage is overexposed and flat, the correction has to amplify the picture more than three times, and the camera's fine noise shows up as grain in the open water. Denoise “Auto” now also kicks in (lightly) in exactly those cases, not only in dark scenes. It is still off by default – choose Auto or Light in step 3.

2026-10-13
New feature

New sea turtle for ratings

Reviews are rated with a new, clearer sea turtle – the same style as the dive-tank icon in the watermark – and the review score on the front page now shows it instead of a star.

Fix · from John

Clear help when the browser refuses a folder

Chrome and Edge won’t let a website save straight into Desktop, Documents or Downloads themselves (“can’t open this folder because it contains system files”). The app now explains that you pick or make a folder inside one of them – and if no folder is chosen, the next Start saves the files to your Downloads folder instead of doing nothing. The notes under the folder button are no longer cut off either.

2026-10-12
Fix · from Thibault

Murky green water comes out neutral, not green

When green water is also milky and low in contrast, the “Shallow / hazy” scene used to leave much of the green in the picture – and when Auto switched between “Green water” and “Shallow / hazy” inside a clip, the colour visibly jumped. In clearly green water the hazy scene now takes out the green the way “Green water” does, while keeping its gentle contrast, so the water ends up neutral to slightly teal and a scene switch is barely noticeable. Blue and teal hazy water look the same as before.

2026-10-12
Fix · from Thibault

Smoother results when the natural light changes

In footage where sunlight comes and goes, the contrast boost used to exaggerate the light changes, and the scene detection could flip back and forth between “Green water” and “Shallow / hazy”. The correction now follows the brightness of the light instead of amplifying it, and a scene has to be clearly different before Auto switches – so the colour stays steady through the clip.

2026-10-11
Fix · from Allan

Clear message when a video's sound can't be kept

If a camera records sound in a format the app can't copy yet, the corrected video used to be silent without explanation. The app now says so, with the format name, so it can be added.

2026-10-11
New feature

Variable bitrate at every quality level

High bitrates now also start in variable-bitrate mode, which saves space on calm scenes. If a graphics card's encoder collapses at a high variable bitrate, the app notices within seconds and switches that file – and the rest of the batch – to constant bitrate.

2026-10-11
Fix · from Torsten

Denoise no longer leaves double edges on moving subjects

The frame-to-frame part of Denoise now checks a small area around each pixel for movement, so an edge that moved is never blended with where it was before. Light and Strong are also a little gentler, keeping more detail.

2026-10-11
New feature

Adjust one video without changing the others

Changes in step 2 now apply to the selected video only by default – pick “All videos” to apply them to the whole queue. Your changes are added on top of Auto (for example “Auto, plus more red”), so scene detection and scene changes inside the video keep working. Adjusted videos are marked in the list, and “Reset to Auto” undoes them.

2026-10-11
Fix · from Kevin Simpson

Photos show up in the phone's picker

On some phones the file picker only offered videos. The app now asks for videos and photos in the general way phones understand, so both appear.

2026-10-11
Fix · from Birgit

Open water stays blue

When blue water filled much of the frame – a diver in front of the blue, the reef dropping away – the correction neutralised the water itself and it turned lavender or greyish-violet. In open-water scenes the app now measures how much of each frame is smooth, open water and keeps that part blue, while the reef, diver and fish still get the full correction. Reef close-ups are unchanged.

2026-10-11
New feature

New, easier-to-read watermark

The free-version tag has a new design: bold “DIVE.NORDRIFT.DK” with a dive-tank icon, readable even when a video is watched on a phone. It scales with the video, from 1080p to 5.3K, and stays small on portrait phone videos. Removing it works as before.

2026-10-11
New feature

Preview stays in view while you adjust settings

On computers the before/after preview now follows you down while you scroll through the settings, so you can see the effect of every change. During a batch the status, ETA and finished files stay in view the same way.

2026-10-11
Fix · from Thib Fleu and Birgit

Edge on Android: “The requested file could not be read”

Edge for Android withdraws the page's access to picked videos after a short while, so processing failed even though the file had opened fine. On Edge for Android each video is now copied into the browser's own storage the moment you pick it, and the app works on that copy. Start waits until the copy is ready.

2026-10-10
Fix · from Birgit, and a dolphin video

Steadier water colour when big subjects pass

In open water, a dolphin or diver filling the frame for a few seconds could tint the water behind it violet or reddish for that moment. The correction in blue-water scenes may now only change gradually, so the water stays steady; wrecks, reefs and night dives still follow fast light changes as before.

2026-10-10
Fix · from Michael Shapiro

Firefox: “Timestamps must be monotonically increasing”

Firefox's video encoder can hand out frames out of order, which an MP4 file cannot store. The app now asks Firefox for in-order frames, and any browser that reorders gets the file restarted that way automatically.

2026-10-10
Fix · from Birgit

Several videos at once on Android

Picking more than one video from the gallery on Android could fail with “The requested file could not be read” for every file but the first. The app no longer resets the file picker after a selection, which was withdrawing the browser's access to the files; if Android still withdraws it, the message now says what to do.

2026-10-10
New feature

Denoise for night dives and murky water

New in step 3: Denoise – Off, Auto (only dark scenes), Light or Strong. It calms the grain before the colours are boosted, using an edge-preserving filter plus a blend with the previous frame wherever the picture is still, so moving divers and fish stay sharp. On our night-dive and wreck test clips grain dropped by about a third and frame-to-frame noise by up to half, with no measurable loss of speed. Off is the default and leaves the output exactly as before.

2026-10-10
Fix · from a user report

Settings readable on every screen

Drop-down menus in the settings get their own full-width line, so long option names no longer squeeze the labels or push the panel wider than a phone screen.

2026-10-10
Fix · from Torsten

Maximum quality no longer capped at 80 Mbit/s

High-bitrate sources (e.g. 126 Mbit/s 4K50 from an Insta360) now keep their bitrate up to 160 Mbit/s: above 80 Mbit/s the app uses constant bitrate, which encoders reliably deliver. A 126 Mbit/s test clip now comes out at 131 Mbit/s in both HEVC and H.264.

2026-10-10
New feature

Smoothing moved to Output, with a fixed option

Smoothing is now in step 3: Auto keeps each scene's own setting, or fix it for every video – Off, Light, Normal, Strong or Maximum (60 frames). Your choice is remembered.

2026-10-09
New feature

Replies on reviews

Reviews can now get a reply from the developer, and reviews whose problem has been fixed are marked “Fixed” with a link to the change. A fixed review stays visible, but its rating no longer counts in the score.

Fix · from Jonas's own iPhone test

iPhone: corrected videos can be saved to Photos and opened in iMovie

On phones the finished video is written to the browser's storage piece by piece, and the file header is completed at the very end. Safari did not apply that last write reliably, so Apple's apps could not read the file even though other players could. The app now writes strictly in order and completes the header when the file is handed to you, and it checks the file's structure before offering it.

2026-10-09
Fix · from Torsten

Clear advice when a graphics card's encoder caps the bitrate

Some encoders stay far below the requested bitrate even in constant-bitrate mode (measured on an AMD Radeon: H.264 at 4K50 about 10 Mbit/s whatever is asked). The app now says so with the actual numbers and the way out – HEVC output, or Chrome instead of Edge, which does not offer HEVC encoding – and skips the wasted first attempt on the following files.

2026-10-09
Fix · from Jonas's own iPhone test

Sound kept in iPhone videos

iPhone .MOV files store their audio settings in a QuickTime-specific way that the app did not read, so the corrected video came out silent. The audio is now copied over like for every other camera.

2026-10-09
Fix · from Jonas's own iPhone test

Portrait phone videos keep their orientation

Videos filmed upright on a phone are stored sideways with a rotation flag; the corrected file now keeps that flag, so it plays upright everywhere.

2026-10-09
New feature

Photos: JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC

Drop photos into the same queue as your videos – on their own or mixed. Each photo gets its own scene and the same correction as video, in under a second. Photos are saved as JPEG with the original EXIF kept (date, camera, GPS), so they stay in order in your gallery and Lightroom. HEIC from iPhones is supported in every browser, and rotated photos come out upright.

2026-10-09
Fix · from Torsten

Maximum quality on 4K50 footage

Hardware encoders can silently fall to a few Mbit/s when asked for very high variable bitrates (measured: 4K50 at 90 Mbit/s came out at 7 Mbit/s). The app now keeps variable bitrate within what encoders handle, checks the real bitrate after the first seconds of every file and, if the encoder falls short, starts that file again in constant-bitrate mode. The result line shows the bitrate actually delivered, and the diagnostics page now tests HEVC encoding and real 4K bitrates.

2026-10-08
Fix · from a review from a Lenovo Yoga tablet user

Saving on Android phones and tablets

Android tablets that run Chrome as a desktop site are now recognised, and on Android every finished video gets a Download button that saves it to the Downloads folder (visible in Files and Gallery) instead of the share sheet, which often has no save option.

2026-10-08
New feature

HEVC output and Maximum quality

Step 3 has a new Video format choice: keep H.264 (plays everywhere) or save as HEVC / H.265 at any resolution for more detail per MB. The new Maximum quality uses 100 % of the source bitrate. Both choices are remembered in your browser. If the computer has no HEVC encoder, the app says so and saves H.264.

2026-10-08
New feature

Tidier settings panel

Correction and Output settings are folded away by default and show a summary of the current values; one click shows all of them.

2026-10-08
New feature

Auto now follows scene changes inside a video

Instead of choosing one scene for the whole clip, Auto keeps checking the scene while it processes. When you swim from blue water to the reef or into a wreck, the correction switches with a smooth 1.5-second transition, and only after the new scene has held for about 3 seconds so passing fish do not trigger it. On our test dives the applied scene matched what was on screen about 91 % of the time instead of about 70 %.

2026-10-08
Fix · from our own 227-video batch

Much more accurate batch ETA

The estimate now models a fixed cost per file and per frame plus a cost per pixel, ignores files that already failed, and the progress strip is proportional to the actual work, so half the strip means half the work. In a mixed batch the average error dropped from almost 3 minutes to under 10 seconds; the panel also shows the percentage of the work done.

2026-10-08
Fix · from report by Torsten Herwig (Insta360 Ace Pro)

Insta360 Ace Pro and other cameras with an incomplete HEVC header

Some cameras write HEVC files whose header has no profile or level ("hvc1.0.0.L0"), which browsers refuse. The app now repairs the codec description from the stream itself and processes these files normally, and no longer wrongly blames missing Windows codecs.

2026-10-08
New feature

Red recovery, Contrast and Saturation per scene

Three new controls in step 2. Each scene sets them automatically (and the panel shows them switch per video during a batch); move one to fine-tune, which applies to every video like the other manual settings.

2026-10-08
New feature

Warmth

A cooler-to-warmer control in step 3, applied on top of the automatic correction and the same for every video. Neutral by default and remembered in your browser.

2026-10-08
Fix · from our own testing

Correction panel shows each video's own settings

In Auto every video gets its own scene, strength and smoothing. While a batch runs, the Correction panel now switches to the values of the file being processed (and is locked, because the batch keeps the settings it started with); afterwards it returns to the selected file.

2026-10-08
Fix · from a 240-video batch

Finished-videos grid stays compact; player shows when it is loading

Only two rows of finished videos while a batch runs (three when it is done), with a Show all button. The player opens instantly with a loading indicator and ignores repeated clicks while a large file opens.

2026-10-08
Fix · from a 240-video batch

Batch overview fits hundreds of videos

The per-video progress strip now wraps into rows, so large batches fit the panel while long clips stay visibly longer. Failed videos turn red and cancelled ones yellow, with the reason on hover.

2026-10-08
Fix · from report by Chris (iPhone, Chrome on iOS)

iPhone: safer saving and exact error steps

If the browser's storage refuses a write, the app now retries with a second write method and finally keeps the video in memory, instead of failing. Every error names the step it happened in (reading, decoding, colour correction, encoding, saving), and the browser check can run the real pipeline on the first 3 seconds of a video.

2026-10-08
Fix · from our own wreck dives (GH010239)

No more red cast in dark wrecks and caverns

Bright openings and red fins no longer drive the colour measurement in dark scenes, so dark rust stays dark instead of turning deep red. Normal reef and blue-water footage is unchanged.

2026-10-08
Fix · from our own testing

Info line always matches the video being processed

During a batch, resolution, length and frame count under the preview now describe the file that is running, not the one selected earlier.

2026-10-08
Fix · from our own testing

Clear message for empty or cloud-only files

Files that are 0 bytes (OneDrive, iCloud or Google Drive placeholders not downloaded yet) or cut off mid-recording now say so, instead of a generic "could not read the file index" error.

2026-10-08
New feature

Live results while the batch runs

Finished videos appear in the preview column as soon as each one is done – with a thumbnail, size and scene, a play button that opens the corrected video right away, and Save/Download where needed. After the batch: totals, where the files are, Download all, and any failed files with a one-click error report.

2026-10-08
Fix · from review by a MacBook Pro user

5.3K GoPro clips no longer crawl on Macs

New Output size setting (default: up to 4K). 5.3K sources are delivered as 4K H.264, which encodes several times faster than 5.3K HEVC. If a file is slow or stalls, the app now says why and how long it will take.

2026-10-08
Fix · from Reddit user

Large files in browsers without folder access (Brave, Firefox)

Desktops without the folder picker now stream each finished video straight to the Downloads folder instead of filling the browser's storage quota.

2026-10-08
Fix · from review by Kym Sykes

Files with irregular timestamps are accepted

Recorder apps and variable-frame-rate clips could fail with "Timestamps must be monotonically increasing". Output timestamps are now kept in order automatically.

2026-10-08
Fix · from review by BL

Real error instead of "cannot close an ERRORED writable stream"

When a write fails (no disk space, storage quota, locked file) the app now tells you the actual cause, and on phones it checks free storage before each video.

2026-10-08
Fix · from review by Diving Cammy

Sunbeams no longer turn red

A highlight guard keeps bright pixels neutral: red can no longer exceed green and blue in sunbeams and sparkle.

2026-10-08
New feature

Phones and iPad

Android with Chrome works; Safari on iOS 17 or newer runs in beta. Finished videos get a Save button that puts them into Photos or Files. 4K is downscaled automatically if the phone's encoder cannot handle it.

2026-10-07
Fix · from reports by Curtis Tuck and Bill Keller

HEVC clips on computers without a hardware decoder

The app no longer requires hardware decoding. If only software decoding is available it continues, slower, and explains what to install (Windows: HEVC Video Extensions) to speed things up.

2026-10-07
New feature

Batch ETA and speed class

A live estimate for the whole queue, measured from the running average, plus a per-file progress bar.

2026-10-07
New feature

Shallow / hazy water preset

Milky snorkelling water (tuned on UAE footage) is detected automatically and corrected with capped contrast and saturation so sand stays natural.

2026-10-07
New feature

Deep-blue preset

Open-water clips with almost no red get a gentle correction so the water stays blue instead of turning purple.

2026-10-07
New feature

Per-video scene detection

Every queued clip is analysed separately and shows its detected scene; output settings stay the same for the whole batch.
